Shutter Speed
The faster the shutter speed, the shorter the time the image sensor is exposed to light; the slower the shutter speed, the longer the time the image sensor is exposed to light.
A short shutter speed will freeze things without much motion so that you can photograph fast moving things like cars or animals, a long shutter would capture the movement of things.
When you click the button to take a photo, the shutter opens and fully exposes the camera sensor to the light that passes through the lenses. You can change how much light goes through. After the sensor is done collecting the light, the shutters closes immediately, stopping the light from hitting the sensor. For example it is like when you close your blinds in your living room quickly, the light doesn't come in.
